I've been meaning to post about this amazing vintage shop, Eclectica, and it's equally amazing owner, Katrina Cristobal, since we returned from our vacation to Miami, Florida in May. And yes, I still have more Miami goodness posts to come!
I found Katrina online on Flickr (naturally!) when I was looking for Miami ideas. Her stream was chocked full of fabulous mid-century architecture from all over Florida. I quickly emailed her for some shopping/architecture location ideas and she kindly replied with ideas! I soon found out she owned a vintage shop and promised to visit her. We did and I'm so glad!
If you are ever in Miami, you must visit her brick and mortar shop, but if you can't, she has an Etsy shop, EclecticaMiami, as well full of vintage goodness (most items of which are in her Miami shop!)
Her space is off the beaten path and just packed full of fun, kitschy, vintage goodness. She has a studio next door (how awesome is that?) where she creates one-of-a-kind eco-friendly revamped goods, a line called Home Economics, that she also sells at Eclectica.
Here she is in her studio:
Ethan and I ended up staying at her store for a good two hours just talking and talking. She is the most interesting person! Her family is originally from Cuba and you could definitely feel her love for Miami. I love her passion for documenting the rich architectural history of Miami through her photos.
Here are some more photos of her shop.
I scooped up that "Try A Little Kindness" embroidery there the second I walked in the door. I had seen that particular design on various blogs and really loved the colors. It was in pristine condition so I couldn't pass it up. I also purchased one of my pyrex dishes there and the cute mod tray I've been using in various photos. This was too large to bring home with me, but I just caved and purchased it yesterday for our bedroom. (eep!)
Here are some cute pieces that Katrina revamped and also some vintage pieces that she has sold.. some are in photos taken with/by their new owners!
Here are some other inspiring photos I found in Katrina's Flickr:
A corner of her home. I love the pattern she painted on the wall and that shelf! And oooh, the kitschy goodness makes me smile.
And some of the many photos she's taken of various mid-century structures and signage in and around Miami. I have a HUGE love for all things Tiki or inspired...

She also goes to the most amazing estate sales ever. Miami doesn't lack for good ones. Here are couple pics of some beautiful wallpaper she snapped pics of at an estate sale.
And last, here is a photo of her car that she calls "Large Marge".. yes, after the character in PeeWee's Big Adventure (be still my beating heart!! One of my favorite movies ever.)
This is a girl after my own heart.
Thanks Katrina for the eye candy today!
Be sure to also check out Eclectica's facebook page for updates on new items in store!

Oh my, can I have Katrina's life? Or at least just her style?
Great photos, as ever.

What an amazing shop! My eyes zoomed in on the midcentury modern side table in that first pic right away - and then the awesome rug on the wall. I think I could spend days in there!
